Hicks, T. (2013). Crafting digital writing: composing texts across
media and genres. Heinemann.
Hicks explains that writing is not just for paper and pencil anymore.
Students are more motivated when they get excited about their
learning. A lot of that learning involves a tablet or a digital device. AI
has opened up opportunities for students to create, think critically and
problem solve more than ever. Students that use digital platforms at a
young age are more likely to understand a website better than most
adults. Digital assignments such as video presentations, blogs and
podcasts allow students to show expression, identity and connection
to other young audiences. One part that Hicks touches on is that
teachers need training on digital instructional strategies to adapt to this new way of learning.
